For some, the holidays can be a difficult time. Hunger, poverty, and the cold can prevent people from experiencing the joy of the season. St. Brendan Parish strives to bring the miracle of Christmas to families in need through our Giving Tree Program. During the Advent season, a tree is displayed in our church with gift request ornaments. Parishioners are asked to select an ornament or two, purchase the gift on the ornament, and return the gift to the church. Volunteers then sort the gifts and prepare them to be picked up by the charities we serve.
St. Brendan parish is pleased to host and collaborate with Good Neighbors to operate the only soup kitchen and day shelter in the area. Since November 2014 the organization formerly of Bristol moved its location here to reach out to those most in need.

To-date, since it was established in 2005, “Keep the Heat On” has provided more than $1.5 million in heating assistance to more than 7,800 Rhode Island households through grants from the Catholic diocese and private contributions. While energy prices have subsided since those 2005 highs, the economic downturn has created new challenges for struggling families in Rhode Island. As long as there are Rhode Islanders in need of heating assistance, Keep the Heat On will continue to provide for their needs.
