 Why Change the Mass?

Fishers of Men part 1 of 1
Fishers of Men Part 2 of 2

Welcome to the St. Brendan Youth and Family Formation Program.
We continue to grow the program which includes many changes that have been made to the program to help achieve the goal set by the National Conference of Catholic bishops. The goal for our program is called Renewing the Vision and it consists of three basic steps. They are…

1. To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
2. To draw families to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
3. To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each person.

These three basic steps are for our children and for Catholics of all ages. The Youth and Family Formation program at St. Brendan is geared to accomplish this goal.

General Policies for all grades:

It is expected that…
• All students will attend Mass weekly as part of their religious formation and life as Catholic Christians. Attending religious instruction classes once a week is only a portion of their religious education, the other two major components are what we learn by participating in Holy Mass each week, and by what our children are taught in the home.
• Parents will remain active in the religious formation of their children as the first teachers of your children in the ways of Faith.
• All students will attend classes and avoid absences and or tardiness.
• All students are expected to demonstrate behavior that represents responsibility, honesty, and respect for their Catechists (teachers and vounteers) and peers.
• In the event that any outside work is expected of the students, it will be handed in, in a timely manner
• Parents will attend any and all meetings that are required of them. Specific meetings are outlined in each grade.
• If there are any questions or concerns from the parents, they will call the Religious Formation office and address the concern. Open communication is encouraged to maintain a good relationship.

Elementary level religious formation classes (gr. 1-6) are held on Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. -9:45 a.m.
Middle School (gr. 7 &8) classes are held on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Confirmation 9 & 10 are held on Sunday evenings from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Pre-registration is required for all grades during the summer.
