All local hospitals have Chaplaincy (priests) coverage. Because of privacy issues they may not ask you if you want to see a priest so please request a visit. Please notify us if you, or someone you know, have asked to receive the Anointing of the Sick. Also let us know if you, or someone who is unable to go to church, would like to receive Holy Communion.
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be received by any Catholic whose health is in a critical state (CCC 1514-1515, 1528-1529). On such occasions many Catholics receive the Anointing of the Sick with confession and Holy Communion.
Please do not wait until you or your loved one is nearing death. As soon as someone enters palliative care (hospice) you should call for the sacrament. Likewise, if you are facing a procedure (operation or medical testing) and wish to be anointed, please ask.
